artist critique - jordan swartz

Jordan Swartz travels with bands and his images tend to capture what could be everyday scenes, but in such a way that they look unique and beautiful. His work tends to be quiet and his portraits feel exhausted and intimate, and most of his images are reminiscent of accidental snapshots or photos taken in passing rather than something planned and carefully composed. I personally love the way he creates a consistent mood with his work through his use of film and the fact that most of his images are made while on the road and in new places--places where instead of taking photos to capture a memory of a landmark, he instead shoots landscapes from the backseat of a van and shots of parking lots and motel rooms.
